QUALIFYING TRIP

If you have already completed your training, this is a great option to complete your Adventurous Journey for your Bronze Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

This 2-day trip will take you into the Coromandel Forest Park and up to the Crosbies Hut. There will be approximately 6+hours of purposeful activity each day (this will included tramping/camping/cooking).

Expect to learn plenty of new, practical skills, discover more about the natural world, and have fun in a safe, friendly – but challenging – environment. Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators who have your safety and well-being at the top of their priorities.

Day 1
Gear check, travel to the Coromandel, walk the carpark to Crosbies Hut, camp craft, debrief and route plan for the next day. Crosbies Hut was built in 2010 and offers panoramic views of the Coromandel Main Range. Read more here.

Day 2
Walk from Crosbies Hut back to the carpark, debrief, travel back to Rotorua.

  • Day 2 - Crosbies Hut to carpark / Debrief / Travel back to Rotorua
