QUALIFYING TRIP

If you have already completed your training, this is a great option to complete your Adventurous Journey for your Bronze Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

This 2-day trip will take you into the Coromandel Forest Park and up to Leitch’s Hut. There will be approximately 6+hours of purposeful activity each day (this will included tramping/camping/cooking).

Expect to learn plenty of new, practical skills, discover more about the natural world, and have fun in a safe, friendly – but challenging – environment. Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators who have your safety and well-being at the top of their priorities.

Day 1
Gear check, travel to Waitomo, walk the carpark to Leitch’s Hut, camp craft, debrief and route plan for the next day. Leitch’s Hut is located in the Waitomo/Pureora region. Read more here.

Day 2
Walk from Leitch’s Hut back to the carpark, debrief, travel back to Rotorua.
