Bronze Qualifying Adventurous Journey – Waitawheta Hut

QUALIFYING TRIP

If you have already completed your training, this is a great option to complete your Adventurous Journey for your Bronze Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

This 2-day trip will take you to the Waitawheta Hut in the Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park. There will be approximately 6+hours of purposeful activity each day (this will included tramping/camping/cooking).

Expect to learn plenty of new, practical skills, discover more about the natural world, and have fun in a safe, friendly – but challenging – environment. Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators who have your safety and well-being at the top of their priorities.

Day 1
Gear check, travel to Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park, walk from the carpark to Waitawheta Hut, camp craft, debrief and route plan for the next day. Read more here.

Walk from Waitawheta Hut to the carpark, debrief, travel back to Rotorua.
