QUALIFYING TRIP

If you have already completed your training, this is a great option to complete your Adventurous Journey for your Gold Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

This 6-day trip will take you into Northland and Cape Reinga on the Te Paki Coastal Track. This scenic track follows the rugged coastline of Cape Reinga and descends to Te Werahi and Twilight beaches.

There will be approximately 8+ hours of purposeful activity each day (this will included tramping/camping/cooking). You will do a range of on-track and off-track activities designed to extend your knowledge of navigation, team building, leadership skills and environmental stewardship.

Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators who have your safety and well-being at the top of their priorities.

Day 1
Gear check, travel to Northland, debrief and route plan for the day ahead.

Day 2
Spirits Bay to Tapotupotu Bay

Day 3
Tapotupotu Bay to Cape Reinga

Day 4
Cape Reinga to Twilight Beach

Day 5
Twilight Beach to Te Paki Stream

Day 6
Travel back to Rotorua
