A guided hike around Lake Tarawera with Escape Adventurous Journeys is a fantastic way to explore this iconic Rotorua walk.
Let us take the pressure off you and organise the day on your behalf – from the planning, the navigation, the food to the water taxi – we will create an active relaxation adventure for you and your group – just show up and enjoy the walk.
We’ll pick you up from Rotorua central, or we can meet you at the start of the track at the Te Wairoa car park. From there we will walk around the lake, for approximately 3.5 hours, and finish at Te Wairua Stream for a late lunch.
Enjoy a uniquely Rotorua experience, by cooking dumplings in the steaming thermal water in traditional flax bags. Bring your togs, and you’ll enjoy a soak in the natural hot pools, then see the sights by boat, as a water taxi will pick us up and return us to the carpark.
For parents, this is a fantastic way to get your kids engaged in an active day out. Kids are always a little more well-behaved for others… so let our experienced guide take over for a while and provide information, entertainment, knowledge and distraction as we walk along the track, and enjoy some stress-free family time.
For couples and groups, allow us to pass on our expertise, knowledge and take care of all the details for you. We’ll sort out the logistics – organisation, planning and navigation – and you can just kick back and enjoy the walk, learning skills and become empowered to enjoy the outdoors safely.
Our guides are local and passionate about getting people out into the bush, and look forward to taking you on a guided walk around Lake Tarawera on the Tarawera Trail.
NOTE: Using dynamic risk assessment, if at any point your instructor becomes aware that the party will not reach the destination on time, they may shorten or stop the excursion.
