3 Days Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park
QUALIFYING TRIP

If you have already completed your training, this is a great option to complete your Adventurous Journey for your Silver Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

This 3-day trip will take you into the Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park on the Moerangi Track. There will be approximately 7+ hours of purposeful activity each day (this will included tramping/camping/cooking).

Expect to learn plenty of new, practical skills, discover more about the natural world, and have fun in a safe, friendly – but challenging – environment. Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators who have your safety and well-being at the top of their priorities.

Day 1
Gear check, Okahu Rd to Rogers Hut (Te Wairoa), camp craft, debrief and route plan for the day ahead. Read more here.

Day 2
Rogers Hut to Moerangi Hut, debrief and route plan for the next day

Day 3
Moerangi Hut to River Rd, debrief and travel back to Rotorua.
