Silver Qualifying Adventurous Journey – Te Puia Track

QUALIFYING TRIP

If you have already completed your training, this is a great option to complete your Adventurous Journey for your Silver Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

This 3-day trip will take you into the Kaweka Forest Park. There will be approximately 7+ hours of purposeful activity each day (this will included tramping/camping/cooking).

Expect to learn plenty of new, practical skills, discover more about the natural world, and have fun in a safe, friendly – but challenging – environment. Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators who have your safety and well-being at the top of their priorities.

Day 1
Gear check, Makahu Road to Te Puia Hut (Lodge), camp craft, debrief and route plan for the day ahead. Read more about Te Puia Hut here. Near Te Puia Hut is a natural hot spring, so bring your togs as well will walk there for a soak.

Day 2
Te Puia Hut to Makino Hut, debrief and route plan for the next day

Day 3
Makino Hut to Makahu Road, debrief and travel back to Rotorua.
