Welcome to our Bronze Combined Camp: A 4-day Adventure Encompassing Practice and Qualifying Trips

Immerse yourself in the wilderness and embark on a thrilling 4-day journey that includes both the practice and qualifying trips for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze award. Our camp is carefully crafted to offer an unforgettable experience, filled with purposeful activities, outdoor navigation challenges, and unforgettable moments in nature.

During these action-packed days, you’ll spend approximately 6+ hours each day engaging in tramping, camping, cooking, and navigation. Our camp is designed to equip you with essential outdoor skills, fostering self-sufficiency and proficiency in navigating through the wilderness.

Our experienced instructors are passionate outdoor educators, ensuring your safety and well-being are always a top priority. They will guide you through hands-on navigation exercises, teaching you the art of estimating timeframes and effective route planning. Together, as a cohesive group, you’ll make collective decisions, preparing for the adventures that lie ahead.

Locations:

Our camp locations are carefully selected throughout the Central North Island, guaranteeing the safest and most suitable tracks based on prevailing weather and track conditions. A week before the camp, we’ll provide you with detailed information, including meeting places and times. Typically, we start from our Rotorua home base, where our charitable endeavours begin.

NOTE: We are Rotorua based and offer transport from here so you will need to find your own way here is looking from outside Rotorua.

Itinerary

Day 1: The journey begins with a comprehensive gear check, ensuring everyone is equipped with the necessary items, with a special focus on safety. Dive into navigation training that takes place amidst the beauty of the great outdoors. Learn practical techniques and apply them to real-life situations. Engage in valuable camp craft and debrief sessions to enhance your outdoor skills further. Return to base camp for the night, where a cozy and well-deserved rest awaits. Day 2: As the sun rises on day two, we will get you up to prepare breakfast before embarking on more navigation exercises and an exhilarating day hike. Explore the breathtaking wilderness as you put your newfound skills to the test. The day concludes with a return to the base camp, where you will have the opportunity to plan and prepare for an exciting overnight tenting experience scheduled for tomorrow. Day 3: The day begins with packing up our base camp and traveling to our start point for the overnight wilderness camp. As you venture deeper into the wilderness, you will have the chance to put all the skills you have learned over the past two days into practice. This is your chance to impress your instructors and demonstrate your proficiency in outdoor navigation and camping. Day 4: After sleeping under the stars at your campsite in the wilderness, it is time to pack up camp and embark on the final day of your adventure. Work closely with your team to complete the camp breakdown and navigate your way out to the vans. This day will put your teamwork and leadership skills to the test as you collaborate to successfully navigate your group back to the endpoint. Throughout this four-day journey, you will experience personal growth, gain confidence in your abilities, and create lasting memories with your fellow adventurers. Our experienced instructors will be there every step of the way, guiding and supporting you to ensure you get the most out of this enriching experience.
