This Rotorua walk and camping trip includes a mix of guided hiking, a fully-managed glamping overnight stay at lake tarawera’s Hot Water Beach, and a boat trip by water taxi to see the stunning Tarawera Falls.
Join a small group, or have an exclusive Rotorua walking tour for your own group, and walk both the Tarawera Trail and Tarawera Falls with your own personal guide. Bring just a day pack with a few snacks and your overnight gear – as your tent will be set up ready for you and all meals provided.
Day One
We’ll pick you up from Rotorua central, or we can meet you at the start of the walking track at the Te Wairoa car park. From there we will walk around the lake, and finish at Te Wairoa Stream for a late lunch. Enjoy a uniquely Rotorua experience, by cooking dumplings in the steaming thermal water in traditional flax bags. Bring your togs, because you will be camping overnight at Lake Tarawera’s Hot Water Beach, where you can enjoy a soak (or two) in the natural hot pools, then relax for the evening in our glamping tents – with beds provided. We’ll take care of lunch, BBQ dinner and breakfast – and our walking guides will be on-hand if you need them, but will keep a discreet distance to allow you to enjoy your overnight experience.
Day Two
You’ll awake to the sounds of native flora and fauna, enjoy breakfast, then be picked up by water taxi and taken to Tarawera Falls. This is a fantastic way to discover three of Lake Tarawera’s gems – The Tarawera Trail, Hot Water Beach and Tarawera Falls.
Our Lake Tarawera guided walk is a fantastic 2-day outdoor escape in the Rotorua Lakes district. Enjoy a safe and fun Rotorua walk with family or friends, and take advantage of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable Rotoroua walking guides.
