Embark on an exhilarating three-day journey into the heart of nature with our Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold practice camp. This unforgettable experience offers approximately 8+ hours of purposeful activities each day, including tramping, camping, cooking, and navigation.

Our camp is designed to make you self-sufficient and proficient in outdoor navigation. Get ready to acquire new practical skills, unravel the secrets of the natural world, and embrace thrilling challenges in a safe and friendly environment. Our dedicated instructors, are passionate outdoor educators.

Day 1:

Start with a quick gear check to ensure everyone has what they need, with a particular focus on essential safety items. Dive into hands-on navigation exercises in the great outdoors. Learn the art of estimating timeframes and apply them practically. Participate in route planning sessions, making collective decisions as a group to prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2:

Add a Second Day: Begin the day by packing up and tidying your campsite before engaging in more navigation exercises and an invigorating hike. Explore the breathtaking landscapes and put your navigation skills to the test. Enjoy a group assessment to reinforce your learnings.

Day 3:

Continue your journey with more navigation exercises during the tramp. Embrace the beauty of nature and conquer the challenges that come your way. Bid farewell to your fellow adventurers and head back home with unforgettable memories.

Locations:

Our camp locations are scattered throughout the Central North Island, handpicked closer to the camp date to ensure the safest and most suitable tracks based on weather and track conditions. Detailed information, such as meeting places and times, will be emailed a week before the camp. Typically, we start from Rotorua, our home base for this charitable endeavor.
